Jake's Pictures

These House Finches were harvesting the abundant seeds. A Dark-eyed Junco, posing perfectly. This is a scene from the creek west of Morden. It was taken a few weeks ago. The beavers had constructed a small dam here. I just had to post this even though the color has all left. This tree was putting on a spectacular show.

Images from Fall 2007

This American Robin showed up at our house a year ago.
He seemed fine except that his tail was missing.
He needed to visit a 'Retail' shop.
Getting his daily morning exercises. This is a small part of the flock of Mallards at St Vital Park,Wpg. last fall. Here are a few words to brighten your day.
Tender little memories Of some word or deed Give us strength and courage When we are in need.

Have a great day.

Years of Growth

This picture taken by Jake in our local park
reminded me of Psalms 1
"Blessed is the person who does not
follow the advice of wicked people ...
He is like a tree planted beside streams ...
He succeeds in everything he does.
Verses 1 + 3
This old tree has succeeded just by being in the right place.

Thank God for Little Things.

The late blooming Calendula certainly brightens up the fall garden.
In summer I would take these flowers forgranted but now they
make me stop and take note of them.
I'm thankful for diversity in nature.
This Blue Jay seems to be playing peek-a-boo.
Thank-you,God for little things
that come unexpectedly,
To brighten up a dreary day
that dawned so dismally.
It's hard to be downcast when I look at the beauty around me.
A lone Western Meadowlark.
I'm sure he will be heading south soon.
Here is one of Jake's pictures, taken at the small creek just west of town.
Actually this creek helps to feed our lake from which the
town of Morden gets all it's water.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving !

I just had to show this picture,it is from an old
slide scan,but still appropriate.
All too soon we will have the frost on the leaves again.
Above are a few of the lucky ones.At least for this year the managed to get away.
This scene was taken overlooking the scenic
Pembina Valley. It shows that no matter what year
there is beauty all around.
The picture is an old one
taken by Jake,using slide film.

Some Just Because Pictures

'When you see God in the small stuff,
your life becomes more meaningful.'
This House Finch was having a bad hair day.
(Makes me feel better about my hair.)
Here is a favorite of mine from last fall.
My son and grandaughter hand in hand.
An old building nestled among the trees.
Reminder of a summer past.
This was taken a year ago.
Today the last leaves of the Sumac were taken off by the wind.

Being Thankful

A grove of old trees still wearing green. The above pictures were taken at our local Research Station. When I see all the beauty around me the words of a Praise chorus come to mind. "Give thanks with a grateful heart, Give thanks to the Holy One, Give thanks because of what the Lord has done."
If you want to be rich,
Count all the things money can't buy.

I'm thankful for my country.

What says Canada better than a Maple Leaf?

Good-bye Summer

Falling leaves are simply
summers way of saying Good-bye.
By the looks of things around here
summer is bidding us Good-bye in grand style.

Good-bye To Summer

Falling leaves are simply summers way
of saying Good-bye.
I found this little saying recently.

Reflections

This was taken in our local park this morning.
Jake took his camera along on his morning walk
and was able to capture this.
The reflections reminded me of some
reflections of my own.
It is now one month since I joined
the blogging world.Wow!
I had no idea that I was getting into something
this interesting.The people are all
great and so kind.
Thanks a bunch to all who have
visited this blog, please feel free to come
back often.
I must say,I look forward to visiting
your blogs as well.
Thank You,God,
for little things
That often come our way-
The things we take for granted
But don't mention when we pray.

Fall Birds

This Pine Siskin may not be very colorful,
but what these birds lack in color
they make up for in their cheerful twitter.
Last winter we had about 80 of these little birds
visit our feeder regularily.
Hopefully they show up again to brighten our cold winter.
An American Goldfinch dressed for fall.
Here is a House Sparrow looking quite
cozy in the fall leaves.
