A regular at the peanut butter cones, the Hairy Woodpecker This Blue Jay sat long enough to get a couple of pictures
We found this tree bathed in sunlight one aftrnoon.
I thought it looked quite regal.
A Downy Woodpecker with sunlight on his head.
The White-breasted Nuthatch is usually quick to moveon
but this one gave me a chance for a picture.
A quote I found recently says it all.

Christmas To Me

Christmas to me
Is a gift from above-
A gift of salvation
Born of God's love.

Winter Has Arrived

After a beautiful fall we were greeted with a layer of wet snow on Friday.
Here a Downy Woodpecker and a House Sparrow are checking out the suet. This Black-capped Chickadee looks charming, sitting on snow laden branches. A Downy Woodpecker almost hidden in the snow.
The colorful Blue Jay shows up well against a snowy backdrop.
This was the scene early Friday morning.
The roads and streets were a mess.
We had several school buses get stuck, mine being one of them.
This is the not so fun part of winter, but I still think it looks
lovely with the fresh snow.

Thank God for Little Things.

The late blooming Calendula certainly brightens up the fall garden.
In summer I would take these flowers forgranted but now they
make me stop and take note of them.
I'm thankful for diversity in nature.
This Blue Jay seems to be playing peek-a-boo.
Thank-you,God for little things
that come unexpectedly,
To brighten up a dreary day
that dawned so dismally.
It's hard to be downcast when I look at the beauty around me.
A lone Western Meadowlark.
I'm sure he will be heading south soon.
Here is one of Jake's pictures, taken at the small creek just west of town.
Actually this creek helps to feed our lake from which the
town of Morden gets all it's water.
