Looking Back to The Fall Colors

As we step into November, let's take a look back at some fall scenes.
I love all the colors of fall, the cooler temperatures, and the feeling that we are slowing down and getting ready for the winter. Have I mentioned that I actually like winter?

Somehow this old tree trunk caught my attention. It is perhaps still useful as a home for some birds.I imagine the woodpeckers would like it.

Every leaf is vying  for the honor of being the best and the most colourful.

On one of our frost mornings,I came home to find these leaves of the deck railing. They made a perfect photo opportunity.

But, you know me, just one shot would never do.

Almost the same as the one above, but slightly different. Such a simple scene, yet it brought me joy as I was capturing these images.

To Think About:

What would you have today, if you only had those things you were thankful for yesterday?

The Milkweed Seeds

One of the things I enjoy doing in fall is to capture the Milkweed seeds.
This plant readily grows in many areas, so it is not hard to find.

I am fascinated by these small seeds, each so perfectly designed to float away and produce another plant.

Here you see all those seed, lined up and ready leave the pod.

Those delicate filaments move with the slightest breeze.

Yes, I take too many similar pictures, but in my mind each one is beautiful.

Those filament like hair, glisten and sparkle in the sunlight.

Look at how neatly all the seeds are tucked into the pod. When that pod pops open, the seeds are ready to be released and fly away with the wind.

Each one of these seeds has the potential to become a new Milkweed plant, which in turn is a food source and a host for the magnificent Monarch Butterfly.

Something To Think About:
Think about it, Seeds are blessings in waiting.
(This is especially true for the butterflies)

Down The Road Less Traveled

If you should happen to find yourself in the passenger seat of my car be prepared to get off the main roads. A sign that says"Not a Thru Road" only is an invitation to find out why not.
The road we are taking today, has a large sign at the beginning stating that it is not an all weather road. That's ok, as today we do not have 'all weather'. The road is dry, so I see no reason to not check it out.

I read a post by a friend, a little earlier and she mentioned how wonderful blogging is.I so agree.I have met so many wonderful friends on the blog.I only wish I could meet you all in person, but for now, let's head down this road/trail.
I think this stand of trees is lovely at any time of year.

OK, I will confess that I always hope I meet no oncoming vehicle along this road, but those chances are very slim. I've been down here numerous times and have never yet met another soul.

And the road goes on, along the edge of a field As you can see, I took these pictures earlier in the season.

Remember that stand of trees in the first picture. Well, here we are up close and personal with those same trees.

Back home on the computer,I turned this into a black and white.I kinda like that as well.

The Bald Eagle is a bonus picture.I saw it several miles down the road from the rest of the pictures.
I cannot resist getting yet another Bald Eagle shot whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I close this post with a few words from my heart.
Thank you to each one of you who enrich my life in one way or the other. I cherish your friendships and often thank God for you.
Friends are God’s way of taking care of us.

Something Old

This is a post of a different sort. I don't usually photograph a lot of manmade objects. My eyes are drawn to the beauty of nature all around me, but when riding with a friend, sometimes I see beauty in different things.
I have been by this old truck many, many times, but never took the time to really have a look at it.
When my friend suggested we stop and get pictures,I did just that and found that even an old truck has some appeal.

Once upon a time, this truck was the pride and joy of someone.Perhaps the owner was a young man, who couldn't wait to take this vehicle for a ride and show it off to his buddies.

Today it sits, abandoned at the side of a field. The beauty of what it once was is gone.

Similarly, this old building was once brand new and ready to be used. Today it is likely home, only to a few mice and maybe a bat or two.

Those boards that are worn and weak  were once new and sturdy. No doubt, someone took a lot of time to build this and had great plans for it.

Here on this old earth, everything gets old and breaks down, even the human body, but one look at the moon and we are looking at the moon exactly as it was when that truck was new and the building had just been completed. That kind of puts things into perspective, doesn't it?

Something to Think About:
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow may never arrive.
But I have today.
Knowing these facts can give a faith-lift and perhaps even a face-lift.

Word Of God Speak

Enjoy the fall scenes I have captured recently, but please take time to read the words to a song that spoke to me this morning.I know that I tend to get busy doing things and forget to listen.
Here are the words to this song.

I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is, it's ok.

The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say.
Word of God speak.
Would you pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty.

To be still and know that You're in this place.
Please let me stay and rest in Your holiness.
Word of God speak.

I'm finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You and in the quiet hear Your voice.
Word of God speak.

Would You pour down like rain washing my eyes to see
Your majesty.
To be still and know that You're in this place.
Please let me stay and rest in Your holiness.
Word of God speak.

I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's ok.

A Sunday Afternoon Drive

The other day I invited you to join me on a walk, today,I would love for you join  me as we take a slow drive through the countryside, looking for beauty.

I will take you to an area northwest of Morden. It
is known by many names, but Snow Valley is one of them. The small hamlet of St.Lupicien is also in this area.

The road winds in among the trees and into a valley.
These pictures were all taken on September 2,2018.It is still in the early stages of fall, but already we see some color.

I have been down this road often, yet each time,I see new beauty.

We pull to the side of the road to admire the colors of autumn on the trees.

Once more we pull to the side and capture the beauty of a few bright red Sumac leaves.

This is not a place to go fast, because a few car lengths down the road and once again, we have to stop to enjoy these flowers. I believe these are called False Sunflower.

As we make our way through this scenic drive, we have to stop again to capture this moment.I am sure we are seeing the close-up beauty of this place better than those who are in that airplane overhead.

While we are stopped, we take a closer look at the hillside on the right of the road.

Some trees along the way are covered in gorgeous shades of golden yellow. We have to savour the moments, because at this stage the leaves can fall to the ground rather quickly with any strong wind or even a rain.

We leave the valley and trees behind and begin our drive back toward Morden. Oh wait,we need to take a slight detour and look at the wind turbines at St.Leon,Manitoba.

To me these look like gentle giants. When we stop the car, we can hear a soft whooshing sound as the huge blades slice through the air.

Well friends,I think it is almost time to make our way back to Morden.Maybe a light meal and a cup of coffee would be in order.I have enjoyed your company.
Hope you come back soon.
