Harvest Thanks and more

I wanted to post this picture to remind us of the good harvest.
It is a reminder to be thankful for what God provides.
This was taken just behind our yard in town.
The Downy Woodpecker enjoying the suet. You might have to enlarge this picture to see the Brown Creeper. This is perfect camoflage. A final picture, taken last winter.Soon enough we will see the frost on the windows. I think that there is such beauty in these frostscapes.

  1. Nice pictures Ruth, as always. It's really hard for me to tell the difference between the Downy and the Hairy woodpecker. I just posted my sighting for this week on my blog and I may have got that one wrong. Soon I will have pic's so I can get help with my ID's.

Can't wait to see your winter pictures. I have never lived where it snows and really enjoy the snowy pictures. So clean and peaceful.

    Well wishes,
    Craig Glenn

  2. You have a lovely new header in anticipation of the season ahead, or perhaps keeping up with it. We are still in our rainy season, +17 C is forecast for Sunday! The wheat(?) field is beautiful. We ived on the Alberta prairies once for a year; many, many years ago.

  3. That downy woodpecker looks SO fluffy! Like it just came out of a warm dryer or from under a hair dryer. Fun picture!

  4. These are really beautiful and I love the new header! That frost photo is great. I love your brown creeper....I was just trying to decide if a photo I have of one was good enough to use, but it isn't :-) I've only seen one once and it was too far away. Lovely downy shot.

I always look forward to your posts. Your photos are so interesting and well composed. The harvest picture is definitely special and that little brown creeper, how did you spot it?? Great eye! The up-close pic of the frost is wonderful, love all the repetitive designs! Nice post! Thanks

  6. Great pictures Ruth. That Brown Creeper is almost totally hidden. Good thing we could enlarge it.
That frost is GORGEOUS! Reminds me of waves in the ocean, and I hate to say it, but it's coming..

  7. Wow Ruth... Your pictures are marvelous!!! I love the harvest one--as it is a reminder that it's NOT time for Christmas. I despise going into stores NOW and hearing Christmas music!!!!

  8. Beautiful series, Ruth. Very pretty harvest picture, and the Downy Woodpecker is so cute and nice to see at the feeders. I like the Brown Creeper - I've been seeing them as well, and they do blend in with their surroundings.

  9. Ruth, you always seem to put photos together so nicely. I especially like that "frost" photo. That's something we don't see on our windows -- on our rooftops, but not our windows.

  10. Ruth - wonderful images. That brown creeper is definitely good at the camoflage. I love the frostscape. I have never had much success photographing them myself. I'll have to try again now that I have gone digital.

  13. Very beautiful pictures. The brown creeper is perfectly hidden, isn't he. And the frost scape is beautiful, too. Reminds me of Dr. Zhivago.
