A Glimpse of the Rocky Mountains

On July 18,my son,Steve and I made a quick road trip to Calgary,Alberta,to visit family who are dealing with serious illness. The trip was not a vacation as we made the 14+ hour drive in one day, then spent the next day with family at the hospital and on Sunday we again made the return trip in one long day.
We took a few minutes on Saturday morning to drive west of the city to get a glimpse of the Rocky Mountains. I had not seen that much of the mountains for at least 26 years,so it was a thrill.

It was a cloudy morning so the mountains were not in clear view, but it was enough to make me wish I could go closer.

You all know me,when given a chance I will get a picture of the photographer. You can also see that we just stopped at the side of a busy highway to get a few images.

Thank goodness for a telephoto lens.I could get the mountains a little closer.I love all the layers in this shot.

Oh,I love these mountains. The only downside on this day was that we needed to turn around and go back to the hospital.Don't get me wrong,I wanted to go see my SIL and spend time with her,as those days may be limited.

One last look at these majestic mountains.Perhaps some day I can go there and spend more time in the heart of these mountains.

The verse that comes to mind when I look at a scene like this is Psalm 121:1-2
I lift up my eyes to the mountains - where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
