I spent a delightful morning baking buns with my grandaughter,Kai.
Here the buns she made are ready to be baked.
The finished product. Her first try was a success.
We have been invaded by Pine Siskins.
We have two feeders like this and they are always full of birds.
The picture is not the greatest quality.it is hard shooting against a bright sky.
The verse in the picture is as follows-
AND SHE BROUGHT FORTH HER FIRSTBORN SON,
WRAPPED HIM IN SWADDLING CLOTHES,
AND LAID HIM IN A MANGER.
Luke 2:7
It took me four years to complete.
The stitched area is 19 in.by31 in.on 16 count aida.
Ruth, Your buns look delicious.. I'm sure that your precious granddaughter loved cooking with Grandma!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed with your cross stitch pieces. One of my best friends does cross stitching also. That last one with the hummingbirds is absolutely MARVELOUS!!!
Hugs to a talented lady!
Betsy
That's a beautiful cross stitch! And quite an accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteDo you ever use photographs to create a design to stitch? (you could!)
Oh my... your grand daughter is the sweetest adorable little girl I have seen in a looooong time. Look how proud she is to be holding those buns! What a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteI used to cross stitch a long time ago but have stopped it as my seizures became worse but one day I would love to start it up again when I or if I get better again... your work is beautiful!
Thanks so much for coming by when I was ill.
(Hugs)
~Michele
Your granddaughter is a doll -- I'm sure she is fun to have around. Your cross-stitchings are gorgeous. You don't need a camera to make beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteYum- those look good!
ReplyDeleteYour cross-stitch projects are fabulous. I have'nt stitched in years. Maybe I'll pick it up again!
Needlework! Now I didn't know that, it's very beautiful. And so is your little granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing pictures of your granddaughter. What a sweetheart! and what a winning smile she has. Baking, stitching, birding, bus driving, being a grandma...you are busy!
ReplyDeleteThe last x-stitch is gorgeous, only a x-stitch understands what 16 count aida can do to your eyes.
ReplyDeleteRuth your granddaughter is a sight for sore eye! My goodness what a pet, with love shining up at you taking her picture. What a blessing to have your own special Christmas elf to help with the baking.
ReplyDeleteLove your stitchery. I used to do a great deal of it while my eyesight was good enough.
That wide smile on your granddaughter's face is precious! What great memories you are making w/ her. And I love that cross stitch!
ReplyDeleteYou are multi-talented, Ruth! The pine siskin invasion looks fun. How neat that they load up on the feeder like that! Mmmmm...do the buns arrive warm if FedEx-ed?
ReplyDeleteThanks for including your verses for us to enjoy. :-)
What a delicious and creative day! Such fun making yummies with the grandchildren :) and oh Ruth your stitcheries are beautiful..such patience..hats off to you! ReplyDeleteLovely Christmas post, Ruth! Very sweet pictures of your granddaughter (I think you two must have a lot of fun together). Your cross stitch is exquisite - I really like the hummingbirds and the flowers.
ReplyDeleteRuth: Kai is a cutie. I'm glad you stopped by and appreciated your comment. You also have a neat site and I hope to visit again.
ReplyDeleteYour granddaughter is a doll Ruth. I bet you had a great time making the buns. They look wonderfully delicious. I LOVE homemade buns!

Ruth you are an artist both with your camera and your needle! Simply stunning work!
ReplyDeleteYour little granddaughter is a honeybun too! What fun you must have had judging by the smile on her face!
What a precious little granddaughter you have. She is adorable. Any chance of sending a few pine siskins down to my neck of the woods? I haven't seen any for the past 4 or 5 years. They don't come this far south very often, but it sure has been a treat when they have visited my nyjer feeders. Beautiful stitchery, Ruth. I enjoy it, too; but I probably won't be able to pick it up again until after I retire. 16-count aida? Phew! No wonder it took four years to complete. And your Christmas stitchery is stunning, too. That is one of my favorite verses.
ReplyDeleteYour needlework is very beautiful and I can understand why the Hummingbird one would be a favourite! And of course another favourite would be your sweet little granddaughter, how cute she is and how proud of her baking success.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
What fun to bake with your granddaughter! She's adorable :-) I love your stitching work! That Madonna is really lovely! The flowers and hummingbirds are great too. Such a lot of work, but such a sense of satisfaction when something is done fianlly!
