A Walk Down Memory Lane 14

 I invite you to join me today on this Walk Down Memory Lane as we browse through a few of Jake's slides of birds.

The first picture is not actually a bird,but the work of the Pileated Woodpecker.

These birds can create a very large cavity in the tree.

Your truly trying to hand feed the Pine Siskins.

Here are three pictures showing the results of some edit work.The above is the original.

Note the branch across the bird and then take a look at the next one.

These  edits were down with Photoshop Elements 5.

Oranges are a treat for a lot of the birds.

The Baltimore Orioles love them.

This little Tennessee Warbler is looking for some orange juice.

Obviously the Cape May Warbler also enjoys oranges.

A Common Redpoll hangs onto an icicle waiting for a turn at the feeder.

Just recently I added Picasa to our computer.

I did this just so I had an easier way to make collages.

Since I enjoy roses,I pulled up several of last years pictures,

and this is what I came up with.

I have had a very busy day,so this post is short.

A Walk Down Memory Lane 14

Today on our Walk Down Memory Lane I want to introduce you to  our families.

This first picture is Jake's family.

At the top are two pictures of Jake's Dad and Step Mom.

The right hand picture also show two Grandchildren.

The little fellow is our so ,Steve.

On the left,Steve on Jake's Grandpa Friesen's lap.

Center is a family wedding day.

Steve was the ring bearer for Uncle Dan(on the left).

The next picture,a wedding shower for me.

Mom Hiebert and Mom Janzen beside me.

The avid hunters are Jake's two brothers.

And finally a picture showing Jake's Aunts and Uncles.
Unfortunately I do not have a picture of Jake's birth mother.
She died when he was a teenager,and later Dad married the mother in the pictures.

Both of Jake's parents have gone on to wait for us in Heaven,as have several of the Aunties and Uncles.

The above picture is my family,the Janzen's.

On the right are my parents and little Stevie.

To their left is a photo of yours truly.

In the upper left is my Dad,he was an avid John Deere fan.

Center is Dad and two of his sisters.

All three of these loved ones have joined Mom in heaven.

Bottom left is a family trip to Texas,this being in Houston at the Space Center.

Bottom right,my Dad  with my Sister-in-law Hilda,my sister Becky and me.

Dad was already a sick man at this time.

This series is of Jake and Me as we start our life together.

Starting at the top left,the first four pictures were taken on our honeymoon to Banff and Jasper.

The middle picture speaks for itself.

This is the first day at home with our bundle of joy,Steve.

Bottom left show the family in Banff on yet another vacation.

Center is a birthday party,for ,guess who.

And finally a family portrait of Jake,Ruth and Steve.

I end today by showing you a four generation picture.

Grandmother Hiebert,Dad,Abe Hiebert,Jake and Baby Steve.

One of the reasons I show this is to show how the slide scans can be improved.

The top picture is original,then some improvements using Picasa,

and finally more improvements using Photoshop Elements 5.

Next week we will be back to birds and scenery.

As the years add up,God's faithfulness keeps multiplying.

OOPS I Was Wrong

In the last Walk Down Memory Lane I mistakenly

called this the golden Gate Bridge,it is in fact the Lions Gate Bridge in British Columbia,Canada.

My friend Rachel,who lives in B.C. kindly pointed this out.

Trees

I have read a couple of blogs recently which spoke of trees.

With this in mind I went back to last years pictures and found these trees. The center tree is out in a pasture and has been the subject of many photos.

On the top right is a scene of berries against the bark.

Below that a 'heart' for each of you,courtesy of this tree.

Top left is a row of trees in the school playground.

And finally a cluster of trees in the Research Station just down the street from us.

Trees come in a variety of shapes and sizes,somewhat like people,

but each one serves a special purpose,just like people.

A Walk Down Memory Lane 13

Pack your bags,we're going on a road trip today.

This Walk Down Memory Lane takes us to various parts of Canada and the US.

The first stop is Colorado and Estes Park.

Here we are at Bear Tooth Pass in Wyoming.

A quick trip takes us to the Golden Gate Bridge in Vancouver,BC.

A mountain view somewhere in BC. A view of the famous Banff Hot Springs Hotel.

Let's stop at an overlook to see a beautiful lake.

Beauty is observed even in winter.

This is Lake Louise in Banff,Alberta.

Another picturesque mountain scene.

These pictures do not need any identification.

Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills of South Dakota is a familiar scene.

Another peek at Bear Tooth Pass.

Now we head south to Whitesands National Monument in New Mexico.

Let's hurry back to Canada,and stop at Bow Falls in Banff.

Back to the US and the Going to the Sun Highway in Montana.

This Weeping Wall was right beside the road.

Another view of the same place.

This scene is taken in Wyoming,exact location not known.

We head next to the Badlands of South Dakota.

Here we stop to look at one of the many glaciers in Alberta.

Still in Banff we come across this scene.

Now we have arrived in Jasper,Alberta.

One of our Royal Canadian Mounted Police,posing for a picture.

A trip up the Jasper Skytram,give a different view of the mountains.

Following two pictures take us to the Flaming Gorge Rec.Area,Utah

the place of this scenic view will remain unknown.

The beauty is still the same.

Finally we spend some time in Yellowstone National Park.

We are just in time to see Old Faithful at it's best.

Obviously these pictures were taken over several years and vacations.

I hope you enjoyed this quick trip all over the country.

Time For Some Photo Fun

Yesterday,October 21,turned out to be a foggy morning.

This meant a quick trip to see Lake Minnwasta.

The views were stunning in their own way.

A little later as the fog began to lift,the reflections in the lake were my focus.

Yes,there is a little color,and together with some mist over the water it is pretty.

Here is another view of the lake,framed by trees. Today,we finally had some sunshine,so that meant more pictures. This time it was time to have some fun with the Blue Jays. I might add no birds were harmed,except if too many peanuts mean harm. I put the bucket of peanuts down and let them help themselves. Let's reach a little farther.I think the peanuts down there taste better.

Trying to keep a balance while still getting the peanuts is not always easy.

Victory!Now it's time to make a quick get-away. I was zoomed in to close,so therefore didn't get the whole bird in the picture.

A Walk Down Memory Lane 12

Welcome to A Walk Down Memory Lane number 12.

Just a note,all scenes are from years ago,taken with slide film

and scanned to the computer.

This first set of images features animals.

The Mountain Goat,Bighorn Sheep and Antelope were taken

on various trips through the Rocky Mountains .

The rest of the scenes are taken in southern Manitoba.

We used to have Moose in our area,but have not seen any in many years.

These scenics are typical scenes in Manitoba.

Probably the one that says Manitoba best is the Canola field in front of the country elevator.

Finally we turn our eyes toward the sky.

These are a few of the many aircraft slides which Jake has.

More will be posted at a later time.
