Manitoba Nature

As we step into September and the fall season,I want to encourage you to enjoy every moment.
I am still amazed at all the beauty that is to be found in my part of the world.

Take a moment to enjoy some Manitoba Nature.
Driving along a country road I saw this family of Eastern Kingbirds. They were gracious enough to allow me a picture or two.

The herd of Bison which is just west of town, don't really care if I stop or take pictures. These are raised for market,I think some of them may be sold for meat.I know that I have seen Bison meat on the grocery store shelves.

Blue sky, puffy clouds, some water for reflections and the green grass are all it takes to make a lovely scene.

Acres of Sunflowers with that same blue sky and those same puffy clouds, also make a great shot. These spots were actually several miles apart, but taken on the same day.

So,I just had to get a little closer to those Sunflowers.

The destination that day was Pelican Lake, about an hour and a half drive from my house, but worth the trip. The sailboats were all in harbour but still made a pretty scene.

On the drive home we stopped to enjoy these gentle giants in the St.Leon area.

Nothing But Skies

Just a heads up.
If you would rather keep your eyes turned down, looking at the ground, than now is a good time to click away from this post.
If, on the other hand, you enjoy sky watching, come along for the ride and keep your eyes toward the sky.

As the title says, this post is all about the sky and the beauty I have seen there. I don't think the pictures need a lot of explanation so enjoy them at your leisure. I will just share with each of the pictures a part of a quote I found.

Nature is never wasted.

 It daily displays the truth,

goodness,

and beauty of the One who brought it into being.

Every day nature offers a new and fresh declaration of God’s glory.

Do I see Him through that beauty,

or do I merely glance at it and shrug it off in indifference?

A Word Of Encouragement:
Watch the sky above you for never ending beauty.

The American White Pelican -- Goofy or Grand?

The American White Pelican is an absolutely gorgeous bird. Some may differ with that phrase, but I happen to love them. Yes,those huge bills give them a bit of a goofy look, but seeing them soar in the sky is simply majestic.
Come with me to Lockport,Manitoba and let's watch these birds for a short while.

Coming in for a landing, touch down has just been made.

It was a rather hot day, when I was there so I am assuming that the birds held their wings slightly raised in order to cool off. That is simply a guess so if someone wants to correct me,I am waiting to hear from you.

A small island seemed to hold some special attraction to these birds.

It is about time to make that long, almost two hour, drive back home. But wait, this kind of beauty just begs to be captured, so I make a quick stop to get a few shots. The river is the Red River, which makes it's way north into Manitoba from the US.

Along the way,I also spotted this church and it's lovely steeple. I thought it was quite lovely in the late afternoon light.

Who knows where our next travels will take us too? I only hope you will plan to join me.

Praise God! Praise You, Lord, for the wonder of the earth You created.

Wild and Wonderful

This features some recent animal sightings.
I wish these animals would learn to cooperate with me better, but since they don't,I have to be satisfied with what I get.

This is the time of year that the White-tailed Deer are making more and more appearances. They usually come out when the sun is almost down so light is not in my favour.

OOOPS! Don't want to get too close to this one. The Porcupine has very few enemies and that is for good reason.

The Mama to these, must have been busy.I don't often see triplets, so this was a special sighting.

Sometimes even the animals get hot and look for a way to cool off.

Mama and baby, posing for me.

Those who walk with God,always reach their destination.

Simple Country Views

A drive into the countryside is usually relaxing and most often I come back with numerous new photos. Most of the following pictures were taken outside of town, except for the last one. I will explain later

I have a few favourite spots to go to, for two reasons, they have good views and I can be off the road. This is one of those. It is a simple scene, but I think it is pretty.

The yellow flowers up front are called Tansy and here is a close-up view.

Driving down a country road,I saw this spent thistle.I know the flower is gone, but there is still beauty.
As I look at this, I think of people, myself included, as we get older. The flower of your may be gone, but there can still be beauty.

Here is another flower, mostly done. Those purple spikes around the flowerhead, are what got my attention.

This flower was a freebie.By this I mean, that I did not plant it.It grew up from a seed that a bird likely dropped into the flower pot.The flower head was not very large, maybe 6-8 inches in diameter, but it intrigued me,.

Something To Think About:
Let us take a lesson from the flowers.Age doesn't matter, nor does our status in life.We can be beautiful at any age. And like that sunflower, let's bloom where we are planted.

Flowers To Brighten Your Day

It is time for a walk through the flower garden. No,not my flower garden, but that of The English Gardens in Winnipeg.

I debated about what to write here but I think it is best if I allow the beauty of these blooms to speak for themselves.

Daylily

Waterlily

Lily for which I have no name.

Another unnamed variety of Lily

And yet another one without a name.Thankfully the beauty is the same, with or without a name.

The Heavens Delcare

I offer only a few words of explanation and will then all the pictures and words of an old hymn speak for themselves.

This first picture does not display the heavens, but still shows the creative beauty in nature. It is an albino Robin I had the privilege of photographing recently.

I sing the mighty pow’r of God, that made the mountains rise,
That spread the flowing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies.

I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day;
The moon shines full at His command, and all the stars obey.

I sing the goodness of the Lord, who filled the earth with food,
Who formed the creatures through the Word, and then pronounced them good.

Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, where’er I turn my eye,
If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky.

There’s not a plant or flow’r below, but makes Thy glories known,
And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne;

While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care;
And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God, art present there.

All cloud scenes captured on July 1,2018.

I Sing The Mighty Power Of God
