For The Beauty Of The Earth

Every day of our lives we can find something to be thankful for.
This post contains photos and the lyrics to the song,'For The Beauty of The Earth'.

For the beauty of the earth
For the beauty of the skies,

For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies,

For the beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,

Hill and vale and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of light

Lord of all to thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the joy of human love,
Brother,sister,parent,child,

Friends on earth and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild,

Lord of all to thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.

A Lamp To My Feet and A Light To My Path

I will take you back a month or more and share a few pictures taken then.

The Black-capped Chickadee is a year round favourite for me.If I could have only one bird around the yard,I would choose this one.Thankfully,I don't have to limit it to one bird.I do like the variety of birds that pass through my yard.
This little fella was sitting on the inside of my deck railing, while I was sitting only a few feet away from him.Isn't he/she adorable?

I don't often take pictures of the squirrels, simply because I really don't like them around my house. This squirrel was just too cute to pass up.He sat there for the longest time,so I had to get a picture.

I do love looking up to see what treats I can find in the sky.A jetliner passes overhead, among the scattered clouds.

I love reflections and these are exceptional.I love the wavy branches. This was taken at St.Vital Park in Winnipeg.

Last but certainly not least.I had purchased a small bouquet of flowers and decided to place them on Jake's open Bible.I do like how it turned out.

Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path
(Psalms 119:105 NIV)

The Birds and The Bees

Let's take a look at the birds and the bees today.
These were taken in very early fall and have been hiding on my computer since then.

I like to feed the blue Jays peanuts and in turn they repay me,by allowing me to photograph them.I think it's a pretty good trade.
This picture is not cropped, basically it is SOOC

This one bird was so predictable. He would come to the same perch and turn his head in the exact same direction each time before grabbing a peanut.

Now on to the bees.I have never been very successful with bee photography, but I do like these shots.
My,what big eyes you have,my dear!

The yellow fall Mums seemed to have some food source that brought the insect in regularly.

Even the flies found these flowers to be of interest.

Closing Thought:
To cultivate kindness is a valuable part of the business of life.

Sunsets and Inspiration

I love sunsets and it seems that this year I have captured more of them than ever before.
The ever changing beauty of a sunset is a joy to watch.
Instead of sharing my own thoughts, today I will share the words of a song which my friends Legacy Five sing.It was written by the late Roger Bennett, who used to play piano for them and also did some singing.I hope the words to this song encourage you today.

I've been reading in the Bible 'bout the ending of the age.
And one thing that's for certain,it grows closer everyday.

But I'm not concerned about the way it's going to end,
'cause I've read the back of the Book and we win.

Now we all want to be winners in the game of life that we play
but friend, since we're all sinners we've already lost the race.

But Jesus blood can take that sin and throw it in the deep blue sea
He'll put an end to your last place living and give you the victory.

I've read the back of the Book and we win,
No more living in darkness,we'll be living at home with Him.

There ain't no need to worry about it,if you're born again,
cause,I've read the back of the Book and we win.

The words of that song give comfort in even the darkest times.

May you be blessed today.

If you click on the word Cathedrals,it will take you to a version of this song, sung by former members of the Cathedral Quartet, with Matt Fouch on bass.

Try a Little Kindness

I have to share a few more fall pictures before the snow comes. The pictures need no explanation so I will, instead share some quotes I found in a perpetual calendar about kindness.

Pass your enthusiasm for life on to others.

Be a problem solver.

Be a good example to a child.

Pray for your church family.

To love is to place our happiness in the happiness of another.

Say "Have a good day" to a stranger.

Those who love deeply never grow old.

Love always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:7

Tell your loved ones how special they are to you and remind them often.

Give joyfully and abundantly.

Let your light shine before men,
that they may ….praise you Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16

Lakeside Views

I will continue on with pictures taken during my last visit to Lake Minniwasta.
Today I will just let the pictures speak for themselves. You will see I tried a couple of different  settings on my camera.Let me know if you have a favourite.

Notice the webs on the tree.

Leftover seeds glistening in the evening light.

 To encourage you:

Nothing is too small a subject for prayer,
because nothing is too small to be  the subject of God's care.

Sunset in Shades of Blue

Sunday October 25,I decided it was time to pay a visit to Lake Minniwasta.
As most of you know,I had surgery in late September,so I had not been out much with my camera and was missing that. It was the perfect evening to sit at the lake, watching the sunset.

Many sunsets are rich in warm colors of gold, orange and yellow, but this one was different.
The sky was beautiful in varying shade of blue with some hints of yellow and later a few pinks.

The soft reflections in the lake were as pretty as the sky.

As the sun slowly set behind the clouds, the edges of some of those clouds were tinted in a soft pink color.

I love the many shades of blue and a few pinks in this picture.

One last look at the lake showed even softer colors in the reflections.

When the sun finally set,I looked at the time and realized that I had just spent almost three hours watching this spectacle we call a sunset.By this time I was chilly, but my heart was full of peace and joy. Once again,I had found peace and contentment by being surrounded by nature and being in touch with my God.I went home, praising God for the beauty of creation and the peace that He alone can give.
