Update On Jake

The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.
   Psalm 29:11

This past week we have experienced God's strength daily.
On Monday, the 18th,Jake had another 4 liters of fluid removed from his abdomen.
Having this done gives some relief and also increases his appetite.
The procedure went very well, with almost no pain.
We also had a visit from a Palliative care nurse. She offered various suggestions to be more comfortable, but the best
was putting Jake on a low dose of morphine.
This has resulted in him having more restful nights and waking up feeling refreshed.
Throughout the week we have enjoyed visits with many dear friends.
Each one brings a touch of Gods love into our home.
It looks like we will be back at the hospital again on Monday for more fluid removal.
Jake and I again want to say Thank-you for all the prayers on our behalf.
We know that we are being carried by Gods hands
   Jake and Ruth

Thanks to all of you in blogland who are praying and giving encouragement.
The above is the same update sent to friends and family.

New Toy!

The above image is from the internet.

I received my new toy on Wednesday.
Jake decided to give me an iPad.
I had wanted one,but at this time was in no rush to get it.
Upon his request I ordered it from Apple and am quite excited to use this new toy.
I will treasure this gift, given with love from my dear husband.

Update on Jake

This thunderstorm was taken at sunset, this past summer.
Today I will post the update exactly as I sent it out to friends and family.

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

If it were not for this strength, how could we go on?
Jake and I feel Gods' strength bearing us up daily.
Another week has passed and I can see that Jake is getting more tired and uncomfortable.
He still eats a little at each meal and that is good.
He says that he has only very little pain,we praise God for that.
Some days the emotions run high, but this too is very understandable.
We have visits almost daily, people who come by to leave a few words of encouragement.

We want to thank each of you who pray so faithfully,we feel the power of those prayers.
To those of you who live lose enough to drop in,thanks for doing so.
Each visit is a blessing and we welcome them.
We also want to publicly thank those who drop off some food or other tokens of your love.

I would encourage anyone to stop in for a short visit, these visits shorten the day and give great encouragement.
Thanks again for your love and prayers on our behalf,
      Jake and Ruth

A Few Pictures

Here a a couple of pictures taken  on September 4,2010.
Jake and I were out looking for birds and saw these Asters.
I thought they were pretty, and when I got out of the car,I noticed all the moths/skippers on them.

I have no clue as to their ID,so if anyone knows, please let me know.

In the sky we did see two Turkey Vultures.
They are quite amazing in flight.

Thank-you to all who are praying for Jake and me at this time.
Jake is doing as well as can be expected, but has to have fluid drained from his abdomen every 6-7 days.
We know that it is only the power of God that keeps us in peace at a time like this.
Thanks again,we appreciate each one of you.
I will get back to regular blogging again, some time, but for now,I must tend to other more important things.
Ruth
